Laugh or cry at a glimpse of my poetry
Who are you?
He asks me.
I’m a fixer
I’m a listener
I’m a daughter and a sister
I’m a lover but also a fighter
I’m a soldier fighting a dying battle
Who are you now?
He asks me again
I stared emptily at him
Who do you want me to be?

Our love is like parallel lines,
never to touch one another
We would run in the same direction But cursed to never touch one another.
Perhaps in another life, I will be lucky enough
To have you beside me
Somewhere under the clear skies,
I still search for the same stars we used to gaze upon
Assignments? Oh, those assignments?
I swore teacher I did it!
But my hamster ate it up when I wasn’t looking.
Notes? Oh, those notes? Didn’t you hear the news teacher?
My house was wrecked by a volcano and burnt my notes
But I swear I’ve completed it!
Presentation? Oh, that presentation? Oh, dear miss! I am afraid I can’t present it today
My brother flushed it down the drain.
I spent way too long trying to come up with an excuse that I realised something from the beginning
I should’ve done my assignments Instead of giving you these silly excuses.
I’ll see myself in the principal’s office now
Will you forget me?
My dear love,
I whisper to the wind
Asking him to tell you how I missed you
I cried to the moon
Telling her how lonely I felt without you by my side
I begged the stars
Praying to them to have you next to me
I lay by the riverbanks
Hoping it will wash away my sorrows thinking of you
So how could I ever forget about you
Let's go on an adventure
Let's leave all our worries and problems behind
Let's explore the secrets that the world has to offer
It doesn't have to be far away
It can be nearby
What matters is that I have an adventure with you by my side.
